Optus B3/OptusD2 change over news (UPDATED)
I would like to give you an update on the Optus D2 satellite.
Currently, this satellite has successfully completed in-orbital testing at 177 degrees East. It is making its way to its final destination at 152 degrees East where it will replace the Optus B3 satellite.
The satellite is scheduled to be in position on December 3, 2007 and its centre frequency (home frequency) will be operating at :
Freq 12,706.5 GHz
Symbol rate 22,500
Pol Vertical
FEC 3/4
NETWORK SEARCH MUST BE SET TO ON
Once new channels are loaded up in the Set-Top Unit (STU), using remote control scroll up ALL the Channels on the STU till you find your desired channel.
Post the scanning the STU may store previous list of channels in their current channel position and the new channel list added to it. This can be rearranged using organizing services or channel list option on your STU (refer your STU manual to do this).
At this stage your viewers are able to rescan their receivers and acquire this new frequency. This will load a number of new services and also lock in the new home frequency of the D2 satellite – which is the above.
Optus and GlobeCast Australia will commence migrating services onto the D2 satellite once it has completed final destination testing. Transponder 7 and Transponder 5 are scheduled for migration on January 15, 2008. At that time your viewers have two options:
- If they rescanned before January 15, their set top boxes will already have the new home frequency installed in their receivers. So, by completing a simple rescan on January 15 for the above parameters they will acquire their service automatically.
- If they have not rescanned before January 15, they can simply add in the home frequency details set out above and they will acquire their service.
It is important to note that even if they rescan the home frequency between now and January 15, they will still need to refresh (rescan) the receiver on January 15 once the services are off-air in order to acquire the new satellite frequencies. This is because the new channels and new transponders will not be in operation until January 15.
So, once your viewers’ channel goes off air and the set top box displays "searching for signal", they should complete one of the above options and their channels will return.
This is a most exciting time for all channels. It is relatively straightforward to acquire our new state-of-the-art hybrid satellite without involving any physical work to the satellite equipment.
I hope I have made this as simple as possible to follow but please let me know if you need additional information.
Kind regards
Mark Lobwein
Globecast Australia
Update: Switch-over delayed until the 22nd January 2008.

(Matt 28:19,20)
If you have a desire in serving the Lord and serious in being equipped to be trained in practical ways to witness, evangelise and teach God’s Word, Adventist Youth Conference 2008 (AYC’08) is for you!

3ABN Announces New President!
On August 30, 2007, the 3ABN board invited Elder Jim Gilley to become the new president of the 3ABN world ministry. Jim joins Danny Shelton, founder and visionary of 3ABN, in a move designed to meet the challenge of rapidly expanding opportunities opening up to the ministry. Daily, signs in the world about us shout of the momentous times in which we live. We see a vast world of hurting people crying out to God for they know not what. The 3ABN board has seen this need and heard this cry.
Elder Jim Gilley brings with him a vast experience in administration and in both personal and public evangelism. As such, he is uniquely qualified for this special calling. Building upon the strong foundation already in place, Jim envisions even greater and more cooperative efforts among the many varied ministries of God's people as they seek to reach the honest in heart everywhere, calling them out of Babylon in preparation for the glorious return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Jim will be introduced to our viewing audience in his new role in an early upcoming live television appearance.

3ABN and Amazing Facts News
Dear 3ABN Family,
3ABN and Amazing Facts are both committed to fulfilling the gospel commission. With this commission, 3ABN and Amazing Facts have been diligently and prayerfully studying the possibilities of combining these two ministries. Both ministries have concluded that remaining separate at this time, better serves their mission of spreading the gospel. We will continue to seek the Lord's will and go as He leads, to Tell the World of His Soon Coming.
3ABN continues its supportive relationship with Amazing Facts, and we look forward to working with them in the upcoming revival series Here We Stand which will be aired live on 3ABN and 3ABN Latino September 7-15 from Lansing, Michigan.
We ask your prayers for both 3ABN and Amazing Facts as we continue to seek God's guidance in these closing moments of Earth's history. We live in exciting times, and we eagerly look forward to what He has planned for both ministries.
Danny Shelton, President
Please note: Here We Stand will air live in the Australia/New Zealand region, on the 3ABN International Channel, from September 8 to 16.

The 3ABN Producer's technical perspective of GYC 2005
GYC was fantastic! I mean, it was outta this world. We had just gone through several tough months on the truck as we encountered every kind of technical problem you can imagine. It seems that the demons were really out to harm the equipment during Pastor Doug Batchelor's series, and considering the difficulties we had with the trucks breaking down last year for GYC, we were a bit worried. But we hadn't counted on 4,000 young adults praying for us. I know they did, they would tell me! I saw them with my own eyes, praying around the truck, praying when they weren't talking to someone - praying all the time. Guess what. We didn't have a single technical issue - not one single problem the whole time we were there! And talk about smooth? Man, this was an incredibly different GYC from our perspective. My hat is off to all of the officers and volunteers that learned so much from last year's experience. This year everything ran so smoothly it almost freaked me out!
But getting back to their prayers, I believe that's why things went as smoothly as they did. Surely Satan wasn't ignoring us. Surely he would love to disrupt what we were doing! But I don't think he quite counted on the fact that those prayers were going up continuously, and I believe the reason we had no problems was because Satan couldn't come within several miles of that building!!!
